GÚNA NUA & CIVIC THEATRE PRESENT

TROUSERS by Paul Meade & David Parnell
FRIDAY 6TH & SATURDAY 7TH APRIL 20.00 Siamsa Tire

Back to the Irish stage by huge public demand and after their U.S. success Off Broadway, New York, Gúna Nua Theatre restage their superb comedy about friendship, loyalty, expanding waistlines, bad haircuts and 80’s male pop duos.

Dermot lives a quiet life alone when suddenly his peaceful and ordered existence is shattered by the arrival of his old friend Mick. Mick has been kicked out by his girlfriend and needs a place to stay. He brings with him a bag of unwashed clothes, very little money and a business plan.

Memories are evoked of the last time they shared accommodation one summer in Manhattan, when both worked in a restaurant to earn their college fees and sang male duets to impress girls. The story switches between present and past, as both guys try to sort out each other’s messy lives.

Trousers explores the meaning of life, friendships surviving tough times, the need for love and the healing properties of herbal tea. This is a comedy for men who like yoga and beer, and women who wonder what makes them tick.

Grant Aided by ‘The Touring Experiment ‘– An Arts Council initiative It is a two-year action research project, which is designed to inform and shape future policy for touring theatre in the Republic of Ireland.
