In this workshop experienced writer and teacher Dave Lordan will work with participants to encourage them to locate the unique source of their inspiration and to develop their own writing voice.

He's back... and with a vengeance. Clonakilty man Dave Lordan, winner of the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award 2005 will give a 20 minute reading from the biting and hard-hitting work that makes him one of Ireland's most exciting young poets. Then he will host an open mic poetry session for budding and even fully blossomed Kerry poets to vie with one another for literary honour and glory. Winners will be chosen by the assembled audience. This will be great craic so don't be shy.

Poet Madge Davis, an Ardfert native, will present an evening of nostalgia as she reads her autobiographical and simple poetry that speaks to and from the heart. Tonight, with Madge and her friends, you can revisit a pre-Celtic Tiger Ireland that is fast fading away.

Seven Towers is a Dublin based company established to act as an agent for authors of merit. It is unique as an agent by confirming its faith in its writers by publishing numbered limited editions of their work. Oran Ryan, Ross Hattaway, Conor Farrell and Kerry Native, Noel O’ Briain, will read from their work. Aspiring writers are encouraged to bring work of their own as Seven Towers is actively searching for new talent.

AILBHE KEOGAN

Ailbhe Keogan is the author of the critically acclaimed novel, Molly and the Cyclops. It is a work of literary fiction and was published in 2006 by Hag's Head Press. Hag's Head Press bases its business practices on the structure of independent record labels, and Ailbhe will give a work shop on the process of writing a novel and the available alternatives to mainstream publishing houses.

CULTURAL LITERATURE NIGHT

Eileen Sheehan, winner of the Brendan Kennelly Poetry Award 2006 award winning poet, introduces readings by writers newly resident in Tralee from countries as diverse as Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Iran, Nigeria and Argentina. The richly literary atmosphere will also be flavoured with multi-cultural music and singing. This night is the culmination of a series of workshops facilitated by Eileen Sheehan in association with Poetry Ireland and Tralee Refugee Support Services. Sponsored by French Flair.
